V Praze roku 1929 se spravne rozhodli, ze novy vyrobni program Zbrojovky Ing. Frantiska Janecka by mel prijit pod novou znackou. Kdo navrhnul spojit prvni dve pismena jmen JAnecek a WAnderer do slova JAWA, mel stastny napad. Vznikla jednoducha, lehce srozumitelna a vyslovitelna obchodni znacka. Pro domaciho zakaznika melo toto jmeno take jeste zvlastni nadech diky pismenu W, ktere se v ceskem jazyce temer nevyskytuje. Z pocatku ani nepocital s grafickym ztvarnenim znacky, take pismo nebylo jednotne. O tom vypovida napis JAWA na palivove nadrzi motocyklu v prvnich letech vyroby, ktery se odlisoval od napisu na odlitku krytu ventilovych rozvodu a od napisu JAWA na male skrince pod drzakem nosice zavazadel.
JAWA byla z pocatku znacka bez graficke podoby. 17. srpna 1929, v pul jedenacte dopoledne (u prihlasky je take uveden cas) dostala Zbrojovka Dipl. Ing. Frantiska Janecka novou ochrannou znacku zapsanou na tehdejsim patentnim urade pod cislem 37 525/Praha. Ochranna znamka byla zapsana drive, nez doslo k prvnimu verejnemu predvedeni motocyklu. Premiera se konala na Prazskem podzimnim autosalone. Jeste pred zahajenim (9. rijna) nechal Janecek registrovat ochrannou znamku take u svetove organizace pro dusevni vlastnictvi v Zeneve.
Ochranna znamka JAWA v ovalu, jak ji dnes zname, spatrila svetlo sveta o dva roky pozdeji. Vyskytla se na palivove nadrzi treti a posledni serie JAWA OHV. V ovalu byl napis JAWA, uprostred v dolni casti byly inicialy Frantiska Janecka, takove jako na jeho drivejsim granatu. Od techto inicial vedly vlevo a vpravo petice paprsku. Tato znacka byla registrovana 31. brezna 1936 pod cislem 56 772/Praha. Kdo byl autorem se dnes jiz neda zjistit

In 1929 a right decision was made in Prague.A new armory production program got a new brand name. It was a good idea to connect the first two letters of names JAnecek and WAnderer to word Jawa. And then this simple and easy to spell word was created. This name also had a special meaning to czech people because of the letter W, which is not easy to be foung in czech language. From the beginning people didn't expect to see a graphic version of the sign jawa, also the letters weren't connected. You can see it on the sign Jawa placed on a bike fuel tank in the first years of production. It differed from the sign on a valve cover and from the sign Jawa placed on a little box under a baggage holder. From the beginning Jawa was not in a graphic version. But 17th August at half past 10 a.m. (you can see the time on the application form), the armory was given a new trademark, which was written at the patent office of that time as a number 37 525/Prague. Trademark was written sooner than the first motorcycle was shown. This happened at Prague autumn autosalon. Before the start of the show (9th October) Janecek registered the trademark also in a world organisation of an intelectual property in Geneve. Trademark Jawa in oval (known today) appeared two years later. It was placed on a fuel tank of the third and the last series Jawa OHV. There was a sign Jawa in the center of the oval, also there were F.J. initials as on his previous grenade. There were five beams leading from the initials to both left and right sides. This trademark was registered 31st March 1936 as a number 56772/Prague. Author of this is unknown.
