Geocache Description:

A scenic walk in the Sheeffry Hills, Co. Mayo

The walk to the cache takes you along a section of the Western Way trail into the Sheeffry Hills.

From the carpark follow the track signposted for the Western Way. Cross the fence using the timber stile at reference point "Western Way Sign". At this point you will need to cross the Glenlaur River before heading for the cache. Depending on the route you take to the cache there are fantastic views north to Croagh Patrick and south to the Partry Mountains.

The altitude difference between the car park and the cache is 510m. Proper waterproof walking boots and gaiters are required as there is a small river to cross. Depending on the time of the year this area can be very boggy.

This geocache can be combined with our other caches Discover Barnaderg [GC1M3MA], Croagh Patrick View [GC1M3M4], Discover Sheeffry [GC1QTEY] and also squirrel97's cache Multicoloured Stones [GC1QTFB]. As a rough estimate, doing all 5 caches could take up to 6 hours depending on your fitness and experience levels.

Enjoy.
