Die mittelalterliche Stadt Hum wurde 1102 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt und liegt auf einem Hügel über dem Mirna-Tal. Hum war, wie das nahe Roc, ein Zentrum der "glagolitischen Schrift" einer altslawischen Schrift, die mit dem Griechischen und Orientalischen verwandt ist. Auf dem Weg nach Hum findet man eine Reihe steinererner Skulpturen die auf die glagolitische Geschichte des Ortes hinweisen. Eine romanische Kirche mit sehenswerten Fresken und eine Barockkirche aus jüngerer Zeit zeugen von besseren Zeiten dieser Stadt; heute leben angeblich nur mehr 17 Menschen das ganze Jahr über hier. Allerdings hat diese "Kleinste Stadt der Welt" alles was einen richtige Stadt braucht: Einen Bürgermeister, ein Rathaus und ein gutes Gasthaus. Während der Urlaubszeit finden sich auch der eine oder andere Souvenirladen in den alten Häusern. Für Stärkung sorgt ein uriges istrisches Gasthaus mit offenem Kamin, die Humska-Konoba, unmittelbar vor der Stadtmauer. Empfehlenswert ist auch die 2,5 Std. Wanderung entlang der Mirna nach Buzet. Hier kommt man zu einem anderen, sehr schönen Tradi. Der Cache ist eine wasserdichte Box mit logbook, Bleistift und Schlüsselanhänger.
Easy to reach, on the edge of the „Smallest City in the World“. Hum, the medieval city was first mentioned in 1102 and is situated on a hill above the Mirna valley. Hum was, like the close town Roc, a center for the "Glagolitic script" an old Slavic script using Greek and Oriental letters. On the way to Hum you can find a number of sculptures made of stone indicating the Glagolitic history of the site. A Romanesque church with beautiful frescoes and a Baroque church tell from better times to this city,. Now are only supposedly 17 people living here the year-round. However, this "smallest city in the world," got everything which a real city needs: a mayor, a city hall and a good inn. During the holiday season you will also find one or the other gift shop in the old houses. For your meal there's an istrian, quaint inn with a fireplace, named Humska-Konoba, just before the city walls. Recommendable is the 2.5 hour walk along the Mirna to Buzet. Here you will find another, very nice geocache. The cache is a waterproof box with a logbook, pencil and Keychains.
