This cache was placed with the permission & cooperation of the management of SML State Park.
Trail maps are available at the Main Office & the Visitor Center.
VA State Parks cache with Garmin eTrex units.
When caching in any Virginia State Park; please stay on marked trails when possible, park in designated parking areas ONLY, always practice CITO & most of all - take time to enjoy & explore your natural surroundings!
When searching for this two stage cache, you can stick to animal paths when off trail. You will not need to disturb any foundation or historical structure when searching.
You seek your clue to the second stage in an orange match stick holder. Look to Virginia's tobacco rich past.
The second cache is a small watertight box. Not on the island, but you can see it from here! No need to get your feet wet.
Original contents: log book, pencil, VA State Park key chain & flashlight (just turn the batteries around to operate).
This is NOT the Turtle Island cache of the past!
A nominal parking fee is required so be sure to enjoy all the park has to offer. This area of the park is open from 8 am to dusk. Happy hunting!
