The NoVAGO "Spring has Sprung" Event
Sunday, May 17, 2009

The time has come to get together again! The warming of spring means new flowers, new outdoor activities, trees leafing out....and plenty of geocaching with old and new friends. We'll be hosting the event at the picnic pavillion at Edwards Landing Park. The Pavilion is located at:
901 Powhatan Ct., NE, Leesburg, VA

It has a capacity of 60 people with one large grill. There is no electricity or running water, but a port-a-potty is available during the season. The pavilion is surrounded by woods with a little open space. There is a walking trail that goes down the hill about a half mile to the Potomac River, connecting to the Ball's Bluff Battlefield Regional Park trail system.

Oh, and you will be feet away from a devious little nano!

Event Schedule:
An "ice breaker" event (to get everyone to meet each other and mingle) will start as soon as you arrive. Need a volunteer to set this up. Any takers? Sue of "Vinny and Sue" will lead the icebreaker! Yaay!!

10:30am - Arrival and sign-in
11:00am - Event Begins
12:00pm - Lunch
2:30pm - OPEN

Important Information
1. Charcoal and fluid for the grills will be provided by NoVaGO.

2. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided by NoVAGO.

3. There is an existing multi-cache in the park. There are also quite a few caches in the surrounding area to keep you busy before and after the event!

4. The nearby Ball's Bluff Battlefield Regional Park (NVRPA) has numerous hiking trails and some wonderful caches. See this page for more information. The Red Rock Wilderness Park is also just down the road a bit with a few more caches.

5. Lawn chairs, blankets, etc. should be considered in case we all can't fit under the pavilion.

6. If you bring Travel Bugs, please exchange them amongst yourselves rather than leave them on a table for trading. They tend to get lost that way and we all know how frustrating that can be.

7. Feel free to take photos during the event and add them to the event page in your logs! You can also post them to the gallery on our website after the event.

8. Raffle--if you have something to donate to the raffle bring it and pass it to one of them NoVAGO officers. You can also contact NoVAGO through our profile link at the top of this page.

9. A paved trail connects the parking lot to the pavilion for any of our disabled cachers.

10. Keep the cache on your watchlist and check back often for any updates.

If you don't know now, please post it as the event gets closer so we can keep track of who is bringing what and try to fill in holes. A list will be posted periodically for you to see what others are bringing. No dish, dessert or drink will get turned away! All food is welcome!

Let's make sure we leave the place cleaner than we got it!
