You can approach this cache following a number of possible paths near Archaia Eleutherna. We started at the Acropolis Taverna. It is perched on the edge of an archaeological site dominated by the spectacular acropolis dominating two small streams down below. You pass the ruins of a Byzantine tower and some fascinating Roman cisterns which you can explore. These water storage places are on the west side of the hill. After descending to the valley on part of the E4 trail which crosses the entire island of Crete, head north and pass by a recently excavated necropolis on the valley floor. Traces of human sacrifice have been found here ! You might have to open a gate and pass through it going downhill. Please close the gate ! Keep heading north to a remarkable stone-built Hellenistic bridge with a nearby chapel. This is a great place for a picnic ! You can make your way back up to the acropolis by a variety of quite steep paths. It is good to have a topographic map of the area to find your way ! Read some of the logs for an alternate parking spot which is closer to the bridge. But our original walking path was quite pleasant and VERY informative.
The small film container is located in the rock wall of the West side of the bridge . It contains only a log, so please bring a pen.
Note on cache maintenance: A local geocacher OMILOS has agreed to keep this cache in working order if the log needs replacing.
Congratulations to OMILOS for the excellent job of being FTF !
