Geocache Description:

Although a quickish cache to do, it’s not a cache’n’dash, and you must not park by the Church.
This cache is not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs as the grassland is very rough and you have to get over one stile right at the beginning.

Church of St. Nicholas.

This beautiful little Church has a large memorial to Sir Hugh Wyndham inside it. It seems he was a circuit judge, a very powerful man.

The co-ords for the parking (N51 03.697 W002 18.706) are just a short distance from the Church When at the church look north in the feild and you will see a massive old Oak tree, known as Wyndham’s Oak also known as the“Judges tree” because the judge used to sit beneath its boughs and ponder his cases and necessary verdicts.
This tree has a girth of 38 feet around the trunk and is believed to be over 1000 years old. One of 10, of the oldest trees in England.
At first we were unsure of the parking point, as at the Church it says parking 100mtrs and an arrow points up the road. We have checked with the owners of this lovely area, and this is indeed the place to park. (Off road, beside the tree)
The road to this Church is very narrow and twisty; you must take care when driving along here.

The cache is a small box with all the usual little swaps inside along with a log book, will take coins and small travel bugs. Please take care to hide it well when you put it back.

There is no need to go onto Church property to do the cache, but as it’s such a pretty Church, it would be a shame not to have a walk round. Just inside the gate there are two flowering cherry trees and when we set the cache the perfume from these was almost overpowering, I just had to bury my nose in the blooms and have a deep sniff.
The views across the fields from the back of the Church are fab too.

If any body would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
