Lom Rasova /
Sandstone quarry Rasova
[CZ]
Piskovcovy
lom Rasova o vymere 4,43 ha se nachazi asi 2,5 km jizne od obce
Komna v CHKO Bile Karpaty. Lamal se zde lomovy soklovy kamen,
pozdeji se z nej vyrabely prevazne drte a silnicni sterky.
Dulezitou roli sehral pri vystavbe silnice c. E50, vedouci na
Slovensko, uskutecnene ve tricatych letech minuleho stoleti. V lomu
se prestalo tezit v 50. letech minuleho stoleti a na nekterych
mistech jsou dosud videt prazce, ktere jeste nestacila pohltit
okolni priroda. Po opusteni tezarskou spolecnosti zacal lom
pustnout a vytezeny prostor zaplavila podzemni voda do hloubky az 4
m. Lokalita Vas zaujme zejmena tim, ze zde najdete radu vzacnych a
ohrozenych druhu rostlin (prozatim bylo zjisteno na 199 druhu) a
zivocichu. Rasova byla v roce 1991 vyhlasena prirodni
pamatkou.
Zakladni horninu
tvori flys - jedna se o soubor stridajicich se vrstev piskovcu a
jilovcu, ktere jsou usazeninami tretihorniho more. Jde zejmena o
magursky piskovec (svrchni paleocen) belokarpatske jednotky.
Piskovec je jemnozrnny a svetle sedy, s mezivrstvami hnedosedych
vapnitych jilovitych bridlic s prachovou primesi. Prevlada zde
gradacni a homogeni zvrstveni. Na lokalite nebyly zjisteny
mikrofosilie, coz je dano naprostou prevahou turbiditu. Jamovy lom
k tezbe kamene byl vyhlouben 8 az 15 m pod uroven okolniho
terenu.

Sandstone quarry
Rasova (area 4,43 ha) is located approximately 2,5 km to the south
of village Komna in CHKO White Carpathians. There used to be rubble
plinth stone mined, later on road grit and gravel was made of it.
It played an important role in the construction of road # E50
heading to Slovakia in 30s of the last century. Mining stopped in
50s of the last century, there are still visible sleepers in some
places, which were not absorb by the surrounding countryside. After
leaving mining company, quarry began to run wild, extractived space
was flooded with underground water to a depth of up to 4 metres.
Locality will particularly interest you in finding a number of rare
and endangered plant species (it was found about 199 species for
now) and animals. Rasova was proclaimed a natural monument in
1991.
Basic rock is
composed by flysch – it is an assemblage of sandstone and claystone
changing layers, which are the sediments of Tertiary sea.
Particularly it is magurian sandstone (upper Paleocene) of White
Carpathians. Sandstone is fine-grained and light gray colour, with
interlayers of fuscous-calcic-clay slates with a dust impurity.
Gradatory and homogenous layers predominate. Microfossils were not
found here, this is a due to complete dominance of turbidite.
Quarry hole for the extraction of stone was excavated 8 to 15 m
below the surrounding terrain.
