Geocache Description:

There is absolutely nothing to do with the cache at the listed co ordinates. This is purely to stop anyone who only has this information from doing anything daft, illegal or life threatening. The cache is a normal 35mm film pot set right next to a footpath. The cache contains a log only so please bring your own pen or pencil to log.

The most rewarding way to do this cache is by going to the abandoned village of Imber during one of the few periods each year the Ranges are open to the public. This is normally fifty days a year at Easter, during August and Christmas and New Year.Further information is available at (visit link) Dates of when the church is open are listed on (visit link) Even on those days you are only allowed to use the footpath to the church if it is shown as open. Please ensure to strictly adhere to all the official notices and signs when crossing the Plain and visiting the village.

When the village is open there are normally many visitors about.

The church is dedicated to St. Giles. The church was declared redundant in 2002 although there is one service a year early in September around the feast of St Giles.

The information required to find the co ordinates of the final cache is contained in the plaque erected by Wiltshire County Council which can be see at the church entrance at N51 14.088 W 002 03.083. This information can be "virtually" found on a .co .uk site made up of the following letters CDOOOOW.The Os are in pairs.
Alternatively you can look at the pictures of a recent log on GCKCJV!

My only connection with Imber is that my Great grandfather used to be a dray man that took the beer across the plain to the Bell by a horse drawn dray.

Final cache is a few miles away from the church on a hillside where you can see the ribbon of road wend its way to Imber. Some of you have travelled this way before...
