Geocache Description:

A 2 litre cache placed beside a bridlepath skirting a wooded hill beside horse fields. Easy to find, but muggles abound.

Guildford Chantries - North. One of a series of nine.

The cache is a 2 litre sandwich box.

The Chantries form part of the ridge of the North Downs, just to the South of Guildford, Chantry Wood is 78 hectares of mixed woodland and an Area of High Ecological Value within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in striking distance of Guildford Town Centre.

The Chantries are popular with walkers (and dogs) all year. Rabbits, deer, badgers and foxes live wild there. In April/May the wooded area is a mass of bluebells. The top of the hill has open fields with stunning views to the south.

There is a bridlepath, part of the North Downs Way Long Distance National Path, that runs along the north side of the Chantries hill. At the west end, off Pilgrim's Way is a car park about 0.7 km from the cache. The path is used for vehicular access to a farm, by walkers, dogs, horseriders and cyclists. It is sandy with infilled stones, rutted, potholed but easily traversable despite this. Park in the carpark, do NOT attempt to drive up the path.

I want this cache to be easy to find - even for GPS-less geocachers just using the notes, so the description here is quite detailed. Note that the adjacent horse fields and horse sand school are not involved with the cache and that land should not be entered; horses spook easily, please ensure your behaviour does not spook any horse working in the sand school.

The cache is a 2 litre sandwich box, approximately 220 * 130 * 65 mm. It is placed in the fork of a Y log near a tree, north of the track and west of the entrance to the farm. The log is obvious.

The cache has been seeded with the following initial "treasures":
globe puzzle; playing cards; Pair of size C batteries; Yellow highlighter; propelling pencil; six inch ruler; freezer bag clip; spanish phrasebook.

Please ensure that the cache is left with the lid firmly on to keep the contents dry and is well hidden from passers by.

"First To Find" went to The Two Peas.
