Geocache Description:

Located on the Knoydart Peninsula to the West of Inverie Village which is only accessible by ferry or a very long walk - hence the difficulty rating. The cache is easily located without going off-track.

The K10 cache commemorates the 10th Anniversary of the community buyout of the Knoydart Estate by members of the community, the John Muir Trust, Kilchoan Estate, the Highland Council, the Chris Brasher Trust and the Friends of Knoydart. The Knoydart Foundation was established and aims to manage the Knoydart Estate as an area of employment and settlement on the Knoydart Peninsula without detriment to its natural beauty and character and to seek and encourage the preservation of its landscape, wildlife, natural resources, culture and rural heritage.
Set in a spectacular landscape, Knoydart is known as the 'Rough Bounds' and is one of the last areas of true natural wilderness in Britain. Famous for it's hospitality, Inverie Village has bed and breakfast facilities for those wanting to relax and take in the beauty or for those wishing to stay as part of a longer walking trip around the area. It boasts the 'most remote pub on the British mainland'

The cache is a small klick and lock box inside a camo bag approx 2 Km outside the village.

If you are holidaying in the Fort William / Mallaig area, you can visit Knoydart for the day by taking the Western Isles ferry from Mallaig to Knoydart, leaving at 10.15 am and returning from Inverie at 3pm. Enough time to find the cache and have lunch at the local tearoom or the famous Old Forge pub. Check the website www.knoydart-ferry.co.uk for further information. Or, alternatively, by the new fast boat service 'Knoydart Sea Bridge' which runs every day including weekends. Timings can be found at www.knoydartseabridge.co.uk.
*Congratulations to FFloss for being FTF - it really takes a dedicated geocacher to get this one!*
