La
cache se trouve à une soixantaine de mètres de l’entrée principale
de la base militaire de Longue Pointe.
C’est
à la base militaire de Longue Pointe qu’on peut trouver le
25ième Dépôt d’approvisionnement (l’un des plus gros au
Canada) et 202ième Dépôt d’atelier (le seul atelier de
réparation et de fabrication des chars d’assaut au Canada).
Également, on peut y trouver le Musée du Corps Royal canadien des
Magasins militaires (CRCMM). Ce dernier est situé à l’entrée de la
base, dans l’ancienne chapelle des catholiques et des protestants.
La vieille chapelle érigée en 1943 a été récemment déclaré bâtisse
du patrimoine et rénovée.
Le
rôle du CRCMM était de fournir aux Forces Armées Canadiennes le
matériel nécessaire pour le combat, la formation et pour les
opérations de maintien de la paix à travers le monde. Il n’est donc
pas étonnant qu’on retrouve au musée une collection importante
d’objets militaires datant du 17ième siècle jusqu’à nos
jours.
Le
musée est le seul musée militaire ouvert au public cinq jours par
semaine. À 10 minutes à pieds de la station de métro
Langelier, le musée reçoit quelques 10 à 15 000 visiteurs par
année. Le stationnement et l’accès au musée est gratuit.
Le
musée est ouvert de 10h00 à 16h00 mercredi à dimanche
inclusivement.

The cache is located some sixty meters from the main
gate of the Longue Pointe military base.
This military base houses the 25th Canadian
Armed Forces Supply Depot (one of the largest in Canada) and the
202 Canadian Armed Forces Workshop (the only facility that repairs
and builds tanks in Canada). The base also houses the Museum of
the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps
(RCOC). The Museum is located in the
old catholic and protestant chapel, near the main gate. This old
house was built en 1943 and was recently proclaimed a patrimonial
building. It was also renovated.
The role of the RCOC was to provide the Canadian Armed
Forces with everything they need for the combat, training or the
peacekeeping operations around the world. Therefore, it is
evident that the Museum has a large collection of all kind of
objects associated with the military, from 17th century
until today.
The museum is the only military museum open to public
five days a week. A short, 10 minutes walk from Langelier metro
station brings you there. Each year, some 10 to 15000 individuals
visit the Museum. Parking and admission to the museum are
free.
The museum is open
Wednesday through Sunday, from 10h00 to 16h00.
