This is our first series
of caches although they can be done individually, there are 24
caches of varying sizes. The walk is about 6.5 miles and follows
country lanes, footpaths, and part of the Wayfarers Walk through
woodland and farmland. There are some stiles to cross and some of
the paths and fields get very muddy after rain so waterproof
footwear is essential. The terrain rating is the same throughout
the series although the difficulty rating is individual to each
cache. Please be aware that some of the footpath signs are in need
of attention although at the time of placing they were all there,
but some were looking sorry for themselves. With this in mind it
might be advisable to take an OS map along. (Landranger 196,
Explorer 119)
The
terrain rating is the same throughout the series although the
difficulty rating is individual to each cache. We have given the
terrain rating a 3 due to the sections that pass through working
farmland please be aware that electric fences are used in farming
and livestock may be in fields that you cross, also areas you come
across will be very muddy depending on whether the area is being
farmed or the time of the year.
There is potentially
lots of wildlife to see, several views of the forts on Portsdown
Hill, and lovely wooded areas to explore. We hope that you have as
much fun finding them as we did setting them.
This series was set up by A&S in October 2009 and adopted by
Alljan in December 2010. Many thanks go to Alljan for kindly taking
on our series as we would have hated to see it go to the archives,
and thanks to everyone who has taken the time to find them!! Happy
caching!! (We hope to again soon once our new team member is a
little bigger!!)
