Geocache Description:

This cache is placed as part of the 2009 Geocaching Adventure, a geocaching game placed by MiGO members as a tribute to the Metroparks Geocaching Adventure series. In order to complete the 2009 Geocaching Adventure, you will need to find the 11 caches hidden in the different Metroparks. For links to all of the cache web pages Click Here.

Inside the cover of each Geocache you will find two words. These are to be placed on the appropriate spaces of a crossword puzzle found on the Geocaching Adventure 2009 Brochure found here.  We will be holding a geocachers picnic at Indian Springs Metropark on September 12th.  Watch the Geocaching Adventure 2009 Web site for more details.

This small family cemetery was established by the Nowland family in 1866. The original name of this city was Catsville, but it was changed to New Boston when the Nowland family patriarch traveled to Washington D.C. to petition for a mail stop for the city. It seems that there was town near the Ohio border already named Catsville, so the town voted to change the name to New Boston. Mr. Nowland became the town's first postmaster. Mr. Nowland had 5 children with his first wife, and after she took ill and died, married again at the age of 72 and had 4 more children. When the park system was planning the bike path connector, they contacted the family who agreed to sell the property. The Metroparks agreed to fence in the cemetery, maintain the land, and register it as a historic site. Originally this cemetery had 18 or 19 headstones, but over the years vandalism and the river have taken most of the markers.

The cache is a 1.5 mile bike ride, on a paved trail, from the parking lot.
