Geocache Description:

Located west of the town of Superior on U.S. Highway 60. Exit on the south side of roadway on FR 2403. Road is good for two wheel drive vehicles but should have high clearence. Be extra careful when exiting hwy 60, the speed limit in this stretch of hwy is 65 and area is off a curve.

Pinal City's post office was established on April 10th, 1878 and was discontinued November 28th, 1891. Pinal City was the milling site for the nearby Silver King mine, about five miles to the north east. Originally called Pickett Post after Pickett Post Butte, Pinal City grew to a size of over 2000 residents. The town had it's own newspaper called the Pinal Drill. The community had everything anyone would want. When silver was de-valued in the late 1800's the town quickly dwindeled and in 1890, only ten people were left. unbelievably absolutly nothing is left today. The remains of the mill site are still visable. The cache is a cookie tin - taped to the inside of the cover is a photograph of the townsite as it looked in its glory, looking over the mill site toward the northeast.
As always when out in Gods country please look out for the critters that can harm you.
