St Thomas' church dates from the 14th century with the nave rebuilt in 1706 and the addition of a tower in 1743. The tower contains a ring of 6 bells with a tenor weight of 8cwt. The front 5 date from 1744 cast by Robert Catlin whilst the tenor was a more recent addition in 1948 cast by Mears & Stainbank of Whitechapel.
If the church is open please take the time to have a look around. In addition to a 14th Century font there is also a model of how St Peter on the wall would have looked in its prime.
The 15th Century south porch was a recent addition in 1957 relocated from Snodland Church following its demolition. By the south gate are the stone mounting blocks dating from pre 1539 and in the south east corner the local lockup and whipping post formerly used for housing the local drunks.
