This cache will require a little more than just a walk in the
woods. You will need a boat, canoe, kayak, inflatable raft, or
something along those lines in order to reach it. Make sure to
enjoy the beauty of the area as you are making your way to and from
the cache. It is a very scenic view. The main purpose of this cache
is to give geocachers a different perspective of the natural
wonders available here. You most likely will see all kinds of
wildlife while on the lake, including many ducks. Bring a fishing
pole with you (but make sure to have a valid fishing license) and
maybe try your luck at catching a few, while searching for this
cache.
The best (and easiest) way to start your adventure, is to use
the boat launch located in Lake D'Arbonne State Park. The cache is
located just a short distance from this point. However, you can
approach the cache from other parts of Lake D'Arbonne if you like.
You will be searching for a lock n' lock box.
If you don't have access to any kind of boat, then don't worry,
as you can still find this cache. Boats and canoes can be rented on
an hourly or daily basis from Lake D'Arbonne State Park, if needed.
They also include life jackets, which are required by Louisiana law
when boating on the waters here. Please, wear your life jacket and
be safe while attempting this geocache....also make sure to secure
your gps unit so it doesn't fall in the lake.
The North Louisiana Geocachers and the staff at Lake D'Arbonne
State Park would like to dedicate this cache to the memory of
Coolslaw/Steve who loved to spend time in this park, placing
geocaches for others to enjoy.
