THE CACHE IS ON THE MOUNTAIN JUKTAS BESIDE ARCHANES VILLAGE. ARCHANES WAS AN IMPORTANT HUB IN THE REGION DURING MINOAN TIMES. MOUNT JUKTAS IS THE SITE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PEAK SANCTUARIES IN THE MINOAN WORLD. JUKTAS WAS FIRST EXCAVATED IN 1909 BY SIR ARTHUR EVANS. AT THE BASE OF JUKTAS, AT ANEMOSPILIA WAS ALSO FOUND A SITE THAT SUGGESTED TO SOME THAT THE MINOANS PRACTICED HUMAN SACRIFICE. . IT IS POSSIBLE TO GO BY CAR ON THE DIRT ROAD, OR BY FOOT ON THE PATH. IF YOU LIKE WALKING, THEN PARK HERE: N 35 14 167 E 025 09 227 AND FOLLOW THE BOARD AFENTIS KRISTOS. THIS IS THE NAME OF THE CHURCH ON TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN.
