Geocache Description:

An Iceland mystery-cache

The Republic of Iceland (Ísland or Lýðveldið Ísland) is an island country located in the North Atlantic Ocean between mainland Europe and Greenland. Iceland is a wonderful country, where nature is the supreme ruler.
Located on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, Iceland is volcanically and geologically active on a large scale; this defines the landscape.
The interior mainly consists of a plateau characterized by sand fields, mountains and glaciers, while many big glacial rivers flow to the sea through the lowlands. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, Iceland has a temperate climate relative to its latitude and provides a habitable environment and nature.
Regardless of when you visit, be assured that the warmth shown by Icelanders, their desire to share their culture and the efforts made to make your stay as pleasant as possible will, like the spectacular landscape, never be forgotten.

There are a few questions to be answered if you like to find the exact position of the cache.

1) In the year 1963 something new appeared. It was named after a giant. What was his name? (5 Letters)
Find A by using A=1, B=2 etc.

2) It is the only native land mammal to Iceland. Find its latin name!
The number of the letters is B.

3) The reason for the geologically activities is, that something, that was one is now separating. What was its name, when it was one?
Find C by using A=1, B=2 etc.

4) During the eruption of the vulcan Laki in 1783, which had negative effects all over Europe – some people said, it was one reason for the French Revolution – one man stopped the lava stream in a very special way. What was his full name?
The number of the letters is D.

5) You are behind a special curtain. Don´t get wet! Where are you?
Find E by using A=1, B=2 etc.

You will find the coordinates by the following calculation:
N = (C+D+2)°(4*B).(E+C/5)
W = 0((3*A-200)/4)°(10*D/4).(2*E-8)
