Geocache Description:

THIS IS NOT THE CACHE LOCATION. THIS IS THE STARTING POINT CAR PARK, IN GREEN DENE, FOR A CIRCULAR 4.5 MILE WALK.
There may be one steep climb depending on your route, and no stiles to climb over.

Lord Lovelace was an enthusiastic forester. In order to facilitate riding through the woods and extracting the timber, he embarked on a programme of bridge building. Altogether he built fifteen horseshoe-shaped bridges, ranging in size from Meadow Platt to the Dorking Arch, which crosses the road leading to Ranmore Common.

The style of the bridges is unmistakable with their flint and red brick. Over the years many of the bridges have become unsafe and even derelict, and some have been pulled down.

Ten remain: Stony Dene, Dorking Arch, Briary Hill East, Briary Hill West and Raven, all owned by Forest Enterprises, and Outdowns, Meadow Platt, Hermitage, Troy and Robin Hood, all in private ownership.
The remaining bridges are being conserved and this multi stage cache takes you around a circular 4.5 mile walk to visit many of them.
The link here is to a web site from which you can download a pdf file showing a helpful map of the Lovelace Bridges area. We recomend you do this in order to work out routes between bridges. (visit link)

The walk will take you to several locations that each will give you an answer for the final cache location.

The final cache location is at N.51. 14. A B C W 000.26. D E F

The waypoints will take you in a clockwise direction, but you can choose your route.

The final location is appx. 300m from car park. Please ensure the lid is hidden when replaced.

Note that at N51.14.448 W000.25.888 there is a steep ascent or descent should you travel this path but you do not have to.

THE WALK IS MUDDY IN PARTS.
THE WALK IS MUDDY IN PARTS.
