Not far from the site of the now demolished Surbiton Lagoon lies the Lagoon of Rest for Weary Travellers, a Travel Bug Hotel.
Surbiton Lagoon was built and opened in 1934, closing its' doors for the last time in 1980. A great place to spend the summer months, with huge terraces and grass banks and a massive pool. From experience, great fun was had at this place. Now rebuilt as a housing development. Berrylands Park backs onto this development and is a peaceful park and undeveloped wildlife area stretching down to the Hogsmill river.
The area is very popular with dog walkers, and you will have to keep your eyes open for them approaching from 3 different angles. There is also a meeting hut for The Scouts that backs onto the cache location and the Woodcraft Folk have a hut nearby, This is reflected in the difficulty rating if you go on a meeting night. When placed, accuracy was under 20feet when approaching but jumped up to 40 as you get nearer. Best signals are obtained if you come in from the north.

The cache is a 2 litre box which can take most sizes of Travel Bug. It is the home cache for Biscuit, Chip and Cupcake, 3 newly released travellers.
11/9/09 Lagoon is now the original home of 6 TBs as I have released Yeoman Warden and Private on Parade to start their worldwide race. Also released is Stonghenge Rocks!
07/09/11 - Home for 5 more TBs as The 5RRs Holiday TBs have started their journeys.

NOTE - 05/06/09 - LOTS OF NETTLES IN AREA. WEAR TROUSERS. There are still 3 ways into GZ, 2 from the river side and one on the other by the fence.
