Geocache Description:

A 470ml lock & lock box along a bridleway near Old Warden airfield.

This cache, one of a series of caches celebrating the aircraft of the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden, is on a bridleway near the airfield, on the Old Warden Circular Walk.

The series has a bonus cache: each cache contains a letter/number combination that you'll need to find the bonus.

Some waypoints for parking, and a suggested route around the series, are given on the page for the bonus cache (GC1Q0ME)

The area's quite nettley in summer, so long trousers and gloves are advisable.

The Shuttleworth Collection's Blackburn monoplane is the World's oldest airworthy British aeroplane. It first flew in 1912, and was the seventh of its type. Crashed and forgotten in 1914, it was discovered by Richard Shuttleworth in 1937, hidden under a haystack. He had to buy the haystack to get the aeroplane! :-)

You can see the Blackburn at the collection all year round, and flying (if the wind's suitable) at Shuttleworth air displays, held approximately fortnightly May to October.

Amenities: The Shuttleworth Collection has a cafe, gift shop and toilets, there's a pub that serves food in Old Warden village, and a farm shop in Upper Caldecote.
