Missing Link Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Mr.Charlie: The cache appears to be missing. It is not a mouse trap, but was a decon container hanging from a chain about 8' up a tree. The missing links in the chain seem to mean the cache is extinct. It hasn't been found in a couple years so time to consign it to history.

There is a gap in the evolutionary chain between primates and our species, homo sapiens. For too long, paleontologists have been in search of a fossil to show how our ancestors may have looked when they descended from the treetops. Many examples in the past have proven to be hoaxes. Now, on land recently acquired as a new forest preserve, construction projects have revealed information that may provide clues about our past. A possible “missing link” has been discovered.

Dr. Sven Nordqvest is heading the research. When asked if this latest find proved that man evolved from apes he replied, “Nein, that is not what we are here for.” He continued by explaining that the purpose of the research is the expansion of knowledge of how our ancestors lived. “Oh, we can tell what they ate by sifting the soil in search of rubbish. They ate roots and berries and whatever they could hunt. If they won the battle against a wooly mammoth they would eat it.”

Dr. Nordqvest’s assistant, Juan Nyms, added that there may have been other groups of primates or humans in the area based on the technology recovered at the site. Small stone tools and obsidian arrowheads have been found supporting this claim. “Whoever won the battle of technology won the land and the resources that came with it and would be the more likely evolutionary victor.”

Dr. Nordqvest has designated the fossils he has found as a new species that fits somewhere between homo erectus and homo sapiens in the evolutionary chain. He has decided to name this new species after his loyal assistant and call them homo nyms.
