Geocache Description:

There is a monument on top of Kippit Hill that is dedicated to Kenneth Mackenzie, a local landowner's son who fell at Arras in 1918.

While excavating for the monument, workers uncovered an Iron Age stone cist. Entombed within was an ancient skeleton. Due to the fact that the deceased was laid to rest on his left side, the bones on that side were badly damaged. Three pieces of iron had been buried with the deceased, along with many burnt pieces of wood. The archeaologists who studied the bones deemed the "Dolphinton Skull" to be a signifigant find because it was different in size and shape from other skulls that had been found in Scotland. Also, the man buried here was taller than most. Many theories have been put forward as to the reason for these differences, each one as likely as the other.

I could not find a way onto the hill that did not involve climbing fences, so I have placed the cache in a spot where one can fully view the hill and its monument.
