Cache is placed for the Langspoon Event and is not to be logged before Friday 3rd April 2009.
These large concrete cubes formed part of the coastal defences in case of invasion during WWII. Enemy tanks coming across these blocks would either not be able to get over them, or if they could surmount the blocks it would leave the less well armoured underbelly exposed to anti tank fire.
The tank traps were placed at most east and south coast beaches and river mouths, in fact anywhere it was thought likely that the enemy could land.
Such is the nature of a beach, that a great number of these blocks have vanished beneath the sands, due to sand movement.
Cache is a 95mm by 50mm container. Please bring your own pen / pencil.
