Fredeligt parklignende område (36 ha) tæt på centrum af Middelfart, som oprindeligt var hjemsted for “Sindssygeanstalten ved Middelfart”.

Bygningerne i Teglgårdsparken blev opført i to tempi i årene omkring 1890 af arkitekten, professor Vilhelm Petersen som psykiatrisk hospital, eller “Sindssygeanstalten ved Middelfart”, som var det officielle navn indtil 1911.

Stedet fungerede som psykiatrisk hospital frem til 1991, hvor Fyns Amt besluttede at nedlægge hospitalet.I dag er bygningskomplekset taget i brug til boliger og en bred vifte af institutioner og virksomheder. Mange af bygningerne er indvendig blevet radikalt ændret, men udvendig er man gået til værks med stor nænsomhed overfor det oprindelige arkitektoniske udtryk - i så høj grad, at man har ladet de nyopførte boligblokke i parken respektere anlæggets oprindelige symmetri.

The building complex in Teglgårdsparken was built in two stages around 1890 by the architect professor Vilhelm Petersen as a psychiatric hospital or ”The Insane Asylum in Middelfart”, which was the official name until 1911.

The place operated as a psychiatric hospital until 1991, where The County of Funen decided to shut it down. Today the building complex is used for housing and a wide variety of institutions and industries. A lot of the buildings has been radically altered on the inside, but on the outside a lot has been done to maintain the original architectonic impression – the newly built apartment buildings in the park has even been built to respect the original symmetry of the complex.
