Twin Gates and Waterway Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

mersea natives: We have been told by The Long Man to archive this cache as we cannot get to maintain it at the moment, as there are so many other people wanting places to hide a cache in the area it is not fair of us to monopolise the area. So sorry folks Twin Gates and Waterways are no more, but watch the area for all the new ones we assume will now be able to be placed. Many Regards Mersea Natives.

Contents Log & pencil

again you can follow on from the strood or park at Cudmore Grove Country Park(£2)Lovely area to visit you could make this the first of your finds following the beach and paths right round the island or just do one or two that are nearby.(checkout Thor the Thunder cache by Viking Ramblers & Islands End by Bundys) between here and our next cache they fit in nicely with the series

We were recently made aware of the possible sighting of an Adder near to one of our caches and though we have walked the sea wall for many years have not yet been priviliged with as much as a glimpse, thought that the following info from our local courier might be of interest and helpful...

The Adders in Essex are a facinating but increasingly rare creature, the occupy a variety of habitats, including grasslands, scrubland, and heathland, howeverthe main strongholds in the county are seawalls and marshes beside the coast. Despite being the only venomous snake in the UK, Adders are not aggressive and will only ttack if harrassed or threatened. Thier venom poses little danger to a healthy adult, however thier bite is very painful and requires medical attention.
So may I remind you that at this time of year wherever you are caching be a little bit careful of putting your hand into any holes without having checked it out first.
