Geocache Description:

WWFM V
(World Wide Flash Mob 5)
Pirates Booty!
May 2nd, 2009

It’s that time to gather again for a World Wide Flash Mob event! Bookmark this cache to catch any update as they are posted. The event is taking place in front of the Siren’s ship at Treasure Island. Wheelchairs should be able to get to the area without any difficulty. Lots of parking at the casino.

This Flash Mob event is part of a much larger effort by geocachers around the world. At 5:00 PM, GMT (10:00 AM Local Las Vegas Time), other World Wide Flash Mob (WWFM) events across the country and around the world will occur. Come and be a part of this epic event.

The theme for our Flash Mob will be the original seekers of treasure – Pirates! Bring some pirate gear (hats, eyepatches, plastic swords), but remember to keep it hidden until you converge on GZ. We want to appear and disappear as quickly as possible.

9:45 - 9:59 AM - Participants: Wait patiently and/or stroll around the area. STAY AWAY from ground zero until the signal is given. As much as you can, act like a muggle, pretend not to know each other or give any indication that something is about to happen. At 9:59AM converge on ground zero. The Flash Mob Event has begun.

10:00 AM - Log sheets will be handed out for those who did not bring their own. Bring your own writing instrument. Sign individual log sheets and drop them in the collection box.

10:02 AM- Mingle. Place travel bugs and coins in the swap box. Trade stories. Brag. Take pictures. Make arrangements to meet elsewhere, to eat or to find the various caches in the nearby area. Make sure to check the Swag Bucket

10:05 AM – Names will be drawn for FTF and other prizes

10:08 AM – Chow time

10:12 AM - Assemble for a group photo, and assemble FAST. Listen to the photographer for directions. Group photo is taken.

10:14 AM - One minute warning is called "It is now 10:14!" Prepare to leave.

10:15 AM EXACTLY - Wait for it ... LEAVE the area (right at 10:15 AM)! Meet elsewhere if desired. The log sheet bucket will be packed up. If your log’s not in the bucket, you can't log the event.

Note: Although participants are welcome to get together after the event, the event will officially be over at 10:15. Afterwards, at the meeting, participants may chat, meet, eat and plan for a day of caching!!!

There are several volunteer positions available, please contact us to sign up. The following are needed:

Photographer (Thanx, vegaschick!)

Log Tracker (Thanx, Thing One!)

Swag Bucket Attendant (Thanx, woomer!)

Crowd Control (for the picture)

Of course, all volunteers are eligible to log the event and participate in the drawings.

If everything goes right we will have lots of people coming out of nowhere and gathering for 15 minutes, holding a geocaching event and then disappearing…This will be lots of fun and maybe even raise a few muggle eyebrows!

If you want to attend an event that lasts a little bit longer, please come out to the NGA Adopt-a-Highway Spring 2009 being held the next day. It should be a great time!

Special thanx go out to Coinswag.com for providing goodies, and Team Podcacher for making this event a worldwide phenomenon!
