East End Trail - Cobbles Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Southerntrekker: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not repaired/replaced it, I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Geocache Description:

Magnetic 35mm film canister containing log book only. Bring a pen.

An east end cobbled street, not particularly exciting, but with a little history. An archeological dig in Gowers walk in 1989 revealed 16th century buildings, and an apparent burial ground for dissenters. Nearby Hooper street was found to be over a Roman cemetery near to a road or track. You are also near old wool houses, the murder sites of Jack the ripper, and one of the old east london goods railway lines, the rails for which can still be seen breaking through the tarmac of nearby Hooper Street.

The area is not particularly attractive now, (or was it ever?!) - not worth a special visit for this cache i'm afraid !

The cache is very accessible, 24 hours a day, watch the security cameras on the wool house, and be careful when feeling around for the cache - be gentle, or it could fall into the darkness....
