Piet Retief - Weekend Camp-out Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

DamhuisClan: Thanks for all who attended. Lets hope there are many more of these social camp get togethers.
A BIG "Thank you" to Gerhard for starting off idea of doing the cache in Swaziland, and to Johan (PCMecanic) for taking such good care of us, while doing the actual drive in Swaziland.

Geocache Description:

Come and join us for a Saturday evening braai, and sleep over (Camping or Chalets) on Saturday the 28th February, and Sunday the 1st of March, and do some caching around the town.

The camp-out and braai will be held at Sundowner Caravan Park, just 500m outside of Piet Retief, on the N2 towards Ermelo.

Camping stands are R90.00 (Which includes 2 people), with an additional R20.00 per person over the age of 2, per night.
Chalets are R360.00 per night, and are self catering, and only accommodates 2 people. Camp site and Chalets are rated as 3 stars. There is a pool where one can cool down in after the Saturdays caching.

To book the Chalets, please contact Hannes directly on 017-826-0885 or 082-3255-720.
Provisionally, I have booked 5 camp sites, in the hope of at least a small turnout.

There is a sports bar (also for own account) on Saturday night, so one could buy ones drinks there. There is a small Restaurant, but this is closed over weekends, so we won't have access to it, and thus one would need to bring ones own breakfast with for Sunday.

The "event" (as such) will be the braai Saturday evening, but to be eligible to log an "Attended", one can come visit on either day.

Why this event? Well Piet Retief holds the second oldest active cache in South Africa (Eucaliptus by hosta, GC1341), and it has been on my list for quite some time, and I want to share / re-capture the best geocaching weekend we have ever had (in Utrecht not to far away).

Co-ords taken from Garmap, so they could not be 100% accurate, but the caravan park should be easy to find.

Lets hope the geocaching gods roll the dice in our favour with good weather, and lots of fun.

Note 1: When arriving, just say you are one of the tents for "Damhuis".
Note 2: In case of any problems, or that I need to be contacted at any time during the weekend, my cell number is 083-226-7406
