Geocache Description:

35mm Film Canister.

This is a micro GeoCache which only holds a log book (therefore, BYOP). It is hidden somewhere within the Recoleta Cemetery (on top of one of the walls that surrounds the cemetery, not inside a tumb neither a mausoleum).

* About the Recoleta Cemetery *
This cemetery, which in times of the recoletos friars was a fruit and vegetable garden, in 1822 was turned into the city's first public cemetery. It is nowadays known worldwide by its sculptures and the lovely architectonic details of its mausoleums.

Since the upper classes arrived to Recoleta after the 1871 yellow fever epidemic, until the development of private cemeteries in the north of the city, the remains of the men and women of the most powerful families of Buenos Aires were kept here.

To the right of the entrance there is a chapel with an image of Christ made in a single marble piece by Italian sculpture Giulio Monteverde, which was brought from Europe in 1887. The inner alleys are wide as avenues and the place is huge. It is advisable to count with plenty of time in order to cover it and if possible with a guide, so as not to miss any details or historic curiosities.

You will find on this Cemetery the Duarte's Family mausoleum, where the Eva Peron's remains rest in peace.

The access is free and as far as we know is open every day between 8AM and 5PM. Even better, you can join for a guided tour in spanish, portuguese, italian or english.

NEARBY PLACES TO VISIT
* The Pilar Church *
This colonial church, with a tower, a belfry and an austere aspect, was built in 1932 by Jseuit architect Andrés Bianchi. In its interior there are images and altarpieces from the times when the Franciscan Recoletos Friars, who gave their name to the neighborhood, lived here. The main altar, which its silver repoussé fine works, was brought from Alto Perú.

* La Biela Café *
At Quintana and Ortiz, the Café La Biela is a symbol of Recoleta. In its wide interior during the winter, and on its terraces during the summer, this café has gathered important politicians, journalists, arts and sports figures.
On the way out, just across from the café, there is a rubber tree that is more than a hundred years old, which top continues getting bigger.

You can reach this square by bus (lines 10, 17, 41, 59, 60, 61, 62, 67, 92, 93, 95, 101, 102, 110, 118, 124, 130 & 194).

(P.S.: is much better if you find a geomuggles-free moment to pick the cache, because in Argentina the Geocaching is not yet a game as popular as it is in other countries. Even worst, people use to steal things with no value for them (like caches) just for fun.
So, you have to pick the cache as quick as you can and later leave the cache the same way, always trying to pass unnoticed.
Moreover, beware of the geomuggles, because they aren't neccesarily harmless).
