Lorenzo de’ Medici, signore di Firenze, fu fine uomo politico, ma anche letterato e raffinato umanista. Appena poteva si trasferiva dal palazzo di famiglia in Via Larga a Firenze alla villa di Careggi, sulle colline fiorentine, dove, da vero mecenate, si circondava di artisti e letterati, compiacendosi egli stesso di comporre versi; la sua opera più famosa è certamente la Canzone di Bacco, destinata ad accompagnare i canti di carnevale in cui, accanto all’allegria, resta la consapevolezza della caducità della vita. Da vero edonista apprezzava i piaceri della vita, in particolare il buon vino; narra egli stesso nel Simposio che, tornando in città dalla villa di Careggi, arrivato in prossimità del Ponte di Rifredi (oggi Piazza Dalmazia), aveva incontrato un folto gruppo di persone che si dirigeva all’osteria del ponte. Tra questi riconobbe il suo amico Bartolino Tedaldi, il quale così gli rispose: Tutti n'andian verso il Pont'a Rifredi Che Giannesse ha spillato un botticello Di vin, che presti facci e’ lenti piedi (Simposio I vv. 48-50) Inutile dire che anche Lorenzo si unì alla brigata andando a gustare il chiaretto del buon Giannesse. L’osteria purtroppo non esiste più, ai giorni nostri il Comitato “Ponte a Rifredi” ha posto una targa commemorativa nel luogo in cui si trovava l’osteria. Tra l’altro la casa è citata anche in un’altra opera letteraria: ne “La costanza della ragione” di Vasco Pratolini, il protagonista, Bruno, abita proprio in quella casa. Il luogo è molto trafficato ed è impossibile porre lì una cache, così ho dovuto inventare una multi: sulla targa, che reca anche il busto di Lorenzo, ci sono due date: ABCD e EFGH, la cache si trova a:

Una cosa curiosa: la cache finale è vicino ad un sottopasso pedonale della ferrovia, dalla parte opposta c’è l’Istituto Tecnico Industriale Leonardo da Vinci, dove tra l’altro mi sono diplomato; c’è una curiosa usanza che vigeva e vige tuttora tra gli studenti: chi transita nel sottopassaggio mentre passa un treno sarà sicuramente interrogato! Per cui se vedete dei ragazzi fermi all’imbocco del sottopasso, non è che siano incerti sul da farsi, è che hanno paura dell’interrogazione!

Lorenzo de’ Medici, Lord of Florence, was a fine diplomatic man, but also a literary and refined humanist. As soon as he had the opportunity, he used to move from the family palace in Via Larga in Florence to his villa of Careggi, on the florentine hills, where, as a true patron, he surrounded himself with artists and literary men, rejoicing himself in writing verses and poems; his most famous poem is the “Bacchus Song”, used to accompany carnival songs in which, besides the happy side, there was the awareness of the frailty of life. As a true hedonist he loved the pleasure of life, specially the good wine; he tells in Symposium that, coming back to Florence from the villa of Careggi, as he arrived at the Bridge of Rifredi (nowadays Piazza Dalmazia), he met a big group of persons going to the tavern of the bridge. Among them he recognized his friend Bartolino Tedaldi, who so answered him: All we go to the Rifredi Bridge Since Giannesse drew a barrel Of wine, that quickly moves the slow foot It is useless to say that Lorenzo joined the brigade going to taste the “chiaretto” of Giannesse. The tavern unfortunately exists no more, at the present-day the Committee “Ponte a Rifredi” placed a memorial stone where there was the tavern. Moreover the house is mentioned also in another literary piece: the novel “La Costanza della Ragione” (The Constancy of he Reason) of Vasco Pratolini, the protagonist, Bruno, lives just in that house. The place is a very busy one, so I had to put a multi cache: on the memorial stone, bearing also a bust of Lorenzo, there are two dates: ABCD and EFGH, the cache is placed at:

Something funny: the final cache is near a pedestrian subway of the railroad, by the other side there is a my old Technical School; there was and there is still is a curious behaviour of the students: who walks the subway during the transit of a train will be surely called for a test! For this, if you will see a group of students standing in front of the entrance of the subway, it is not that they are doubtful of what to do, it is that they fear to be called for a test!
