Yes, the cache is less than 8km from the suburbs, and it’s low (only 1100m), technically it’s just another Canberra cache on a hill! But – all that doesn’t mean it’s not a challenge! Sure, all you Namadgi die-hards will find this a walk in the park, but you suburban cachers may find this a challenge! Make sure you bring plenty of water.
I don’t know the best way to get here. I came from the Namadgi Visitors centre. I expect it may be quicker from Apollo Rd, on a bike, but it is certainly further that way!
And, just for once, it’s not under the rock, it’s ON the rock! It does have some thin granite slivers covering it, please make sure you replace them well. Not so much that it will stop muggles accidently finding it (unlikely), but firstly to make sure it doesn’t blow away, and secondly to keep the sun off it! (Saves the plastic getting brittle).
Note to Namadgi addicts: You may be disappointed with this cache... There is no huge mass of Granite (although there is some), there are no mind blowing views (although views along the way are very nice), and finally, the bush is scratchy... But hey, it’s a hill with no name, that needed a cache!
