Geocache Description:

A 35mm film container cache and dash placed outside of the station area at the entrance to the Lickey Hills Nature reserve. Stealth is required especially during peak times.

We have Motorway Mayhem. We have A-Road Anarchy (cos there aren’t many Motorways in Wales!). But what about public transport users? SideTracked Caches are intended to provide quick Cache-and-dashes at Train Stations.
It is hoped this idea will spread across the country in the same way as the MMs….but if hiding one PLEASE BE SENSIBLE and remember that in this day and age, public transport is under greater scrutiny than ever before, so, although these caches should be quick and easy grabs, PLEASE don’t place a Cache where it could cause alarm!!!

Barnt Green station was opened in 1840 by the Midland Railway and is situated on the junction of the Birmingham to Bristol main line. The Birmingham and Gloucester Railway was completed in 1840. The buildings at the railway station, and Sandhills Farm, are dated from the 15th century.
Barnt Green itself is near the Lickey Hills and is always a pleasant area for walking and picnicing.
The station has always been popular with commuters and used to be a stop for the citizens of Birmingham to access the Lickey Hills in the days before many people had access to vehicles.
The station has an innovative track sprinkler system which was designed to stop the squeal of train wheels as they round the tight curve into the station.

The cache is placed outside of the main area, across the road, opposite side from the car park. It is in view of the station. Car parking spaces available for 30 minute duration however if you use the station car park you will need to cross the footbridge.
