Geocache Description:

The cache is a small lock tight plastic box hidden above Red Tarn near the Swirral Edge Path up Helvellyn

There are 3 potential routes to the cache; firstly from the summit of Helvellyn coming down via Swirral Edge, Secondly up the Glenridding Valley and up the Red Tarn Beck and Thirdly cut across to Red Tarn from the "Hole-in-the-wall" or start of the Striding Edge Path.
Either of the routes requires a significant walk of at least 2-3 miles uphill in a remote landscape, the paths are generally well kept and the Edges are for the more experienced walkers. I don't recommend the walk for young children!

Please always remember the conditions on the Fells can change very quickly and dramatically, always prepare for the worst and don't take risks! Therefore walking boots and waterproofs are needed.

From the Red Tarn outlet flow ascend up towards Swirral Edge to find the cache, which is hidden near to the path, just above 750m elevation.

No severe slopes have to be navigated to find the cache and please keep to the path up until approximately 20 metres.

On a clear day there can be wonderful views of people silhouetted across Striding Edge, across the Tarn and up towards the summit of Helvellyn.

Please re hide the cache well and be on the lookout for muggles as the route can get busy.

The usual contents in the box, small trackables will fit in, please don't remove the log book, geocache notice, pencils and shapener, Thanks.

Enjoy the location, All the Best!
