Geocache Description:

Collaborators
will be familiar with this cache site, but with the demise of the KZN leg I thought it worthwhile to re-incarnate the site with a simpler multi-cache for those that didn't have an opportunity to hunt for the previous cache and of course for those that have been here, an excuse to revisit. The cache has retained the spirit of collaboration though, thanks to GreenJam for his effort (and getting drenched on my behalf).

Mainly open veld and koppies, the Klipriviersberg (Stone River Mountain) Nature Reserve is home to 150 bird species, 600 plant species, wildlife, including blesbok, zebra and duiker, as well as a rich archeological site. It boasts the highest concentration of identified Iron Age sites on the Witwatersrand. There is also the remains of a BaTswana village and the walls of a house built in 1850 by one of the early "voortrekkers", Sarel Marais.

Notes for the hunt:

The waypoint and cache are located in the Klipriviersberg nature reserve. The walk to the waypoint is approximately 3km (depends on your route) and will take you between 30-45minutes to reach. I would recommend following the main trail until you reach a branch trail at
S26º 17.432 E28º 00.759

There is no path for the last 180m to the waypoint. However, I suggest that you follow the paths until you reach
S 26º 17.042 E28º 01.122 where you will find an animal track which will lead you to the waypoint.

The coordinates given for this cache will lead you to your initial waypoint where you will find a black canister containing the cache coordinates for the cache. Take water and snacks and don't forget the sunscreen.

NB: The cache is in a waterproof 2.6l container and is contained within a green waterproof bag.

Review and print these instructions to make sure you close the bag correctly.
