Geocache Description:

Pink Wood is a small privately owned woodland to the North East of Bruton. A series of micros lead to an ammo box. Allow around an hour to complete and bring your wellies.

The above co-ordinates are for the entrance to the wood. There is space to park a couple of cars.

At N 51°07.965N 002°24.965 you will find a notice board. Use this to answer the following questions:

In what year did the Haines family take over the wood?

Record this as A B C D.

How many Hectares does the wood cover?

Record this as 3 E.

Norway Spruce has been grown since?

Record this as F 9 G H.

Mixed broadleaves were planted between?

Record this as 1 9 I J - 1991.

The first micro can be found in position:

N G F ° B J . I E (J - F)
W B C A° A H . A D J

Inside this micro, you will find the co-ordinates of the second micro. Inside the second micro, you will find the co-ordinates of the third micro and so on. Eventually you will find an Ammo box which is the cache.

Although you are in a woodland, I have tried to place the micros and cache in the more open areas to maximise the accuracy of the GPS signal.

Some cachers scorn the idea of hints and spoilers but as this is a woodland, and GPS and trees don't get on, please use the hints to fine tune your search.

Use the paths through the wood as some of it is quite overgrown. The micros and cache are either on, or very close to, the paths. There are maps provided for use at the entrance. They are behind the information board (paths only I'm afraid).

When you are en-route to micro 4, follow the pink arrows through the trees as these mark the path. It may not always go the way you expect but it will take you in the right direction eventually.

Hopefully when you finally find the cache you will be tickled pink!

During your visit, if you observe anything in the wood such as rubbish, damage etc or if you have any comments on the wood, please give Peter Munford (who manages the wood) a call. His number is on the notice board at the entrance to the wood.
