Geocache Description:

This cache is our first hide and we chose an urban park very near to our home. This park is well maintained by Joburg City Parks and increasingly popular with local residents. The large open field hosts informal touch rugby and soccer games and many visitors walk their dogs.

Thanks for GEO936 for replacing this cache on 4 March 2011

The co-ordinates are not the final location of the cache but will take you to an open area bordered on one side with a row of large rocks, only one of which is hiding the cache. Happy hunting...

The park is becoming more and more popular so please be careful when retrieving or placing the cache. If you have kids a game of hide-and-seek will provide great cover. The original location was compromised by vagrants some of whom appear to be over night residents. Although the new spot appears uninhabited I still suggest only doing this one in daylight

First to Find
Congratulations to Gasman5 for being the FTF, specially as it's his first FTF.
And also to Antron, who found it first after the small change to location.

About the Park
Named after the early Johannesburg historians, this little park snuggled in the affluent suburb of Birdhaven just south of glamorous Melrose Arch, was originally a bird sanctuary. It is still home to an assortment of feathered residents, and after a recent R5-million upgrade the park is set to become a favourite with Joburg residents.

The Sandspruit River flows through its 36 hectares, creating an attractive, tranquil atmosphere. Landscaping incorporates both indigenous vegetation and neat lawns and boasts meandering walkways and new ablution facilities. It is completely fenced.
