The Hadleigh Mega
Tree Trail Bonus cache
This is the 3rd. cache in a new 2009 series for
Hadleigh Country Park
Hadleigh Country Park lies
between South Benfleet,
to the West, and Leigh, to the East. The park consists of a mix of
scrub, woodland and grassland hillside running down to grazing
marsh and seawall, which is adjacent to a narrow strip of salt
marsh. This wide range
of habitat provides many places for plants and animals to live. In
summer this is one of the best places in Essex to see butterflies, dragonflies and
damselflies.
The rangers tell me that the best place to park is
in the main car-park (N 51º 33· 130' E 00º 35·724'), however,
this is £2 for the day. The car-park currently closes at
various times so check before
leaving the car-park.. Alternative parking can be found at Benfleet
Station or surrounding roads (N 51º 32·668' E 00º 33·917'), however, there are charges and
restrictions.
To claim this cache you need to have completed The
Hadleigh Mega Tree Trail cache. On the walk you would have
collected eight different tree names and their corresponding
numbers. These can be then used to decipher the following
co-ordinates:-
N51° 3Field Maple·Willow ,
Elder, Dog Rose'
E00° 3Wild Cherry·Holly, Dog
Wood, Aspen'
As alfarrow is so generous he has included the
co-ordinates for this, the Bonus, in one of the tree
containers.
This cache
was originally set up for the Hadleigh Country Park Geobache back
at beginning of 2009. The bonus meant back-tracking to get it, this
was to equal out the field and give FTF-ers a chance and there was
nowhere else to hide it!
You are
looking for a camouflaged regular sized cylidrical
container.
