As you head west on East Calaveras Blvd towards the Milpitas City Hall, you encounter a cavalcade of giant concrete balls placed along the thoroughfare and slightly smaller ones sprinkled in the adjacent shopping center parking lot.
I've always wondered what artistic message is being expressed here.
For some reason the image of giant meatballs always appear in my mind. Perhaps this is because these delicious ground skeletal muscle spheres may be enjoyed in many of the nearby culinary establishments.

However, during the search for a good hide location, I placed my son on top of one of these balls and was surprised to see it roll slightly. The original image of meatballs quickly changed to pinballs. I envisioned that during the inevitable Big One, they would all break loose turning Calaveras Blvd into a crazy larger-than-life pinball game with cars, trees, and pedestrians acting as involuntary bumpers.

But then again, maybe I've been hitting a little too much of that holiday nog.
