Entre le Conseil des Ministres, le
Parlement européen, la Commission européenne, le Comité des Régions
et le Comité Economique et Social, un grand espace laisse
apparaître un bâtiment en briques rouges, un ancien couvent, auquel
est accolée une petite chapelle en pierres blanches de style
classique : C’est la chapelle de la Résurrection.
Les bâtiments datent
de 1907. Ils sont la reconstitution "à l’identique" d’un grand
couvent construit au XIXe siècle au centre de Bruxelles, près de
l’actuelle gare Centrale, et auquel était jointe une chapelle
remontant au XVe siècle profondément restaurée au XVIIIe siècle.
Cet ensemble fut exproprié dans le cadre des grands projets
urbanistiques du début du XXe siècle.
En 1989 les
religieuses propriétaires, trop âgées, décident de vendre
l’ensemble des bâtiments, la petite chapelle y compris.En 1999
une grande compagnie immobilière en entreprend la restauration,
et accepte de vendre séparément cette petite chapelle à une
association internationale de droit belge, réunissant des
fonctionnaires européens ainsi que d’autres personnes impliquées
à différents niveaux de responsabilité dans la construction
européenne.
La chapelle était
inaugurée et réouverte au culte le 21 décembre 2000 et inaugurée
officiellement, lors d’une cérémonie œcuménique, le 25 septembre
2001.

Between the Council of
Ministers, Parliament, the European Commission, the Committee
of Regions and the Economic and Social Committee, a large area
shows a red brick building, a former convent, which is
attached a small stone chapel white classic style: This is the
chapel of the Resurrection.
The buildings date from 1907. They are rebuilding "identical" to a
large convent built in the nineteenth century in the center of
Brussels, near the current Central Station, to which was attached a
chapel dating from the fifteenth century deeply restored in the
eighteenth century. This package was expropriated in the large
urban projects from the early twentieth century.
In 1989 the religious owners, too old, decided to sell the
buildings, andthe small chapel In1999 a large real estate company
undertook the restoration, and agrees to sell separately this small
chapel to an international association of Belgian law, gathering
European officials and other persons involved at different levels
of responsibility in European construction.
The chapel was inaugurated and opened for worship on 21 December
2000 and officially inaugurated at an oecumenical ceremony on 25
September 2001.
