The station was originally opened by the London & South Western Railway in 1847, and remained opened until passenger services were withdrawn in May 1969. The route from Romsey to Eastleigh was subsequently changed to a singal line and was used as a freight-only route
Chandler's Ford station was reopened for passenger traffic on 18 May 2003, although the new station building (completed with £2M from the local council) was not finished until later in that year, with the official opening being carried out by the TV gardening presenter Charlie Dimmock on 19 October 2003.

There is plenty of FREE parking close by, both in the station car park and the adjacent car park owned by the council.
The cache is a 4.5cm long magnetic micro container with a pull-out log sheet. Due to the size of the cache there is only room to write the date and your name, and you will need to bring your own pen! Please only write on one line so that the log doesn’t fill up too quickly. You will need to roll the log up tightly to re-insert it into the container, and please ensure that the lid is screwed on tightly.
