Cherokee Bill's Candlers Mtn "Tour de Triffid" Multi-Cache
Cherokee Bill: LU has cleared a number of acres of land for athletic-fields. With many trees down about 4 points of the 10 total of this multi are NO more.
But you know, LU ownes the land and are free to do as they please! I am so thankful they have shared this land with the General Public and glad we had the use of this cache as long as we did.

his Honor!

1. The posted waypoints; listed above will NOT take you to the cache.
2. As you have noticed, this cache is named in honor of a Local Geocaching Legend, in the Lynchburg, VA area, known to all as "Triffid". If you have cached in our area long you've doubtless seen Triffid's name on countless caches as "FTF". Or, maybe you''ve challenged yourself hunting caches placed by him. Well this is just one small way to honor his contribution to
our sport.
And yes, after completing one of his multi's "Triffid's Treasure #1: Tour de Peaksview" I got the idea for this cache, although mine does not measure up to Triffid's fine work. BUT I changed one part! If you have completed Tour de Peaksview, you will remember the SURPRISING location of the actual cache. The Tour de
Triffid cache location is a little different (again, you'll understand once you have completed both).
3. Terrain Difficulty: You'll have to be the judge! However, I am 63-yo and walked this course 5-times: (1st) to scout the area out (2nd) to record the waypoints, (3rd) returned to place the waypoint tags and hide the cache container and twice to perform repairs to the tags.
This Multi-Cache will take you on a hiking tour of the Candlers Mountain Trail System. This multi s setup in a crooked-loop to bring you back on the trail-system in the direction of your car.
There are excellent trails/fire roads all the way, but there is some climbing involved. This is a multi stage cache involving MANY waypoints marked by tags (See Photo)...each showing the next waypoint. These tags are attached to objects along your path.
Please DO NOT remove the tags!!
The last waypoint-tag leading to the final-cache is marked
as such (To Container) and the tag number will be
listed in RED. Parking coordinates: N 37 21.272 W 079 10.174 (park in the area closest to Candlers Mtn Rd) Enter the trail system across the street at the large Trail System sign. Follow your GPS and stay on the trail from there!! Take a pen and paper to write down the waypoints!! You need to hike the trails to get to ALL the waypoints. Bushwhacking will take much longer. Stay on the trails and respect the park trail system. Parking is NOT available close to the waypoints. The Trail System is open from Sun-up to Sun-down and the hours are enforced for your safety.
The cache contained a FTF award ($25 gift Certificate to Hikers Outpost on Enterprise Dr). Additionally, at random time intervals I will add gift-certificates from local businesses, to reward you for your effort! There is also 2-CD’s (used), so this can also be a CD-exchange. If you take one, leave one (no junk CDs).
HAVE FUN AND TAKE snacks and WATER!! Lastly, caches like Tour de Peaksview and this, Tour de Triffid, are only completed at an average rate of about 5-Geocachers a year. So, challenge yourself and join a yet "Small Group" of Super-Cachers.
