The great thing about Washington is that there are so many of
them. No matter where you are in the United States, you can ask
someone for directions to Washington, and there's probably a
Washington nearby that they'll point you towards. Many places in
fact, if you say, no the "other Washington" or perhaps "little
Washington", there will even be a second Washington for them
direct you to as well.
So geocachers far and wide are welcome to join the Washington,
D.C. geocachers for an event here in Washington. The event will
take place on Tuesday, November 11th, 2008 from 6 pm - 9
pm EST, at Fuddrucker's south of Dupont Circle. The
street address is 1216 18th St. NW, which is right on the
southwest corner of 18th St., Connecticut Ave. and Jefferson
Pl.
Parking is limited to what metered parking you can find on the
street (albeit you should not need to pay the meters -- it is a
Federal holiday!) or in (expensive!) public parking garages, so
I highly suggest taking
Metrorail
instead. The restaurant is midway between the
Farragut North and
Dupont Circle stations on the red
line, and is just a couple blocks further walk up 18th St. from the
Farragut West station on the orange
and blue lines as well.
We will have the tables upstairs at the back of the
restaurant reserved for us, thus the 1.5 terrain rating, if this
presents an accessibility problem for any cachers, please
contact me as soon as possible so I can notify the manager and
we can reserve tables downstairs instead.
Please post a "will attend" log for this event by Sunday,
November 9th if possible so I can notify the restaurant how many of
us will be attending. If you are posting a "will attend" log for
more than 1 person under a single geocaching name, please indicate
the number in your party.
This event is of course open to all geocachers, whether
you're live in Washington, live nearby, or are just visiting the
area, whether you have 0 finds, thousands, or anywhere inbetween.
Also, you are welcome to attend for any part of the event time,
even if you cannot be there right at 6 or stay all the way until 9.
To log this event however, you must attend and sign the physical
logbook. Please come hungry and join the fun!
