An ode to Nudecacher Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

elrojo14: I hate to give up all of those favorite points on this classic cache, but I am going to plant a new one and it will have to be at a new location since this one is compromised. That will give all of you another opportunity to come get your nude cache on again! Since there is a KCC Ammo Can Cache Contest Kickoff Event Event Cache coming up soon, I should have it in place before the end of the month. I will post a note to this page when I get it published!

Geocache Description:

Ammo can with goodies inside.

This is a long, but interesting tale. I am a high school world history teacher. One day I was searching Google images for 1938 maps of Europe when I came across a map of internment camps in World War II. I noticed there was one listed in Tule Lake, California.

This interested me because my dad used to take me up to Tule Lake when I was younger to hunt geese. We would hunt in the mornings and spend the afternoons cruising Sheepy Ridge and exploring the Lava Beds National Monument. In the Lava Beds National Monument were awesome caves to explore and a rich history about the Modoc War. It was truly a wonderful time and quite possibly sowed the seeds for my interest in history.

So I was surprised to see there was an internment camp in the area and surprised we never ran into it. Wondering where it was located I knew there probably had to be a cache near this old site and so rather than try to find the camp by Google Maps, I decided to find it using Geocaching (I am convinced every interesting historical sight has a Geocache by it).

My hunch was correct and I quickly found a cache named More Wars and it is located near the old site of Tule Lake Segregation Center. I noticed there were two images at the time on the cache page so I wanted to see them.

To my surprise I found this!

What in the name of...??? I was instantly intrigued that there was a man calling himself Nudecacher sitting on the side of the 139 in broad daylight and completely nude except a pair of sneakers and socks. What kind of man does such a crazy thing?

A brazen grass roots warrior is who he is! What better way to add in more adventure to the game of Geocaching than finding all of your caches in the nude! Not only that, by searching his gallary you can see that he is quite creative in finding ways to cover up his "business" and that impresses me all the more.

The only way I could thank him for such clever caching is to plant a nude cache of my own.

This is a gigantic ammo can hidden off the side of Highway 166/33 on Grocer Grade. You should also note there a sign has been placed at the site in order to properly conceal any private parts that are not appropriate for display on Geocaching.com. Inside of the ammo can are also some Geocaching signs that can be used to conceal any upperbody anatomy that might not be appropriate for Geocaching.com.

On the south side of the sign is also a 4x4 that has been planted in the ground. Inside the ammo can is a camera mount that you can use to place on the 4x4 and use your camera auto timer to take individual or group photos. [4x4 was muggled!]

There is no requirement to log this cache other than signing the log. You can take whatever pictures you want, but remember they should not violate Geocaching.com guidelines. Be safe pulling on and off the highway and enjoy this ode to Nudecacher.

Important Cache Instructions!

This cache can be quite technical in nature and your cooperation can make this cache enjoyable for quite some time.

Inside the container are two signs and a black bag. The black bag has all of the cache instructions, log, cache tools, swag, and trackables inside. Please be careful that you do not damage the signs as you remove the black bag.

Inside the bag you will find a camera mount for the 4x4 post mounted in front of the no tresspassing sign. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THE MOUNT AS IT IS NOT A TRADE ITEM! This is so you can take group or self shot photos by using your auto timer on your camera. Please return it to the black bag when you are finished with it.

Inside are two signs for your use in making your photos appropriate for Geocaching.com. THESE SIGNS ARE NOT TRADE ITEMS AND SHOULD BE RETURNED TO THE CONTAINER!

Inside the black bag is a cache log and a plastic bag for trackable items. Please feel free to leave any swag you want behind or trade any swag items you wish in the black bag.
