All
Saints, Herstmonceux
Container is similar to a 35mm film canister. Please bring your
own pencil.
The parish church of All Saints (Church of England) is a quarter
of a mile from Herstmonceux castle, and is a large building in the
Early English style. The West Tower is 12th century and the nave
13th/14th century. It contains a monument to the memory of Thomas
Lord Dacre and his father, descendants of Sir Roger de Fynes, or
Fiennes: under a richly worked canopy are the recumbent figures of
two men in armour.
While in the area a visit to the castle and science centre are
recommended.
If any body
would
like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that
you
could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of
the
Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
