Geocache Description:

This one's a big hit in the spring, bigger in the summer and amazing in October

After Paddler Found and I spend a lot of time and money here this past year it was only fitting to show our appreciation by hiding a cache near our favorite parking in the area. And it was also fitting to hide this cache today October 22, 2008 while parking to attend the first World Series game for the Tampa Bay Rays, and the first World Series game at Tropicana Field. The Rays fought hard but came up a little short today against the Philadelphia Phillies, but there's more baseball to play.

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays were awarded their franchise in 1995 and played their first minor league team in 1996. The Devil Rays played their first game on March 31, 1998 against the Detroit Tigers at Tropicana Field before a crowd of 45,369. Wilson Alvarez threw the first pitch and Wade Boggs hit the first home run in team history that day, and although the Devil Rays lost their opening game 11–6, they actually got off to a good start. For a complete history you can view it here - (visit link) 2008 was incredible year for our Tampa Bay Rays (the "Devil" part of the name was ousted November 8, 2007) and they are currently playing in their first World Series.

So when you reach the listed coords you will find yourself near a parking area that we have found is much easier in and out of then Tropicana Field parking itself. So if the Rays are playing, come support our champion Tampa Bay Rays and snag a find along the way. This is a micro so be sure to bring your own pen. This might be upgraded in the near future but it seemed appropriate to get this hidden today. A historical day in the Ray's history and the history of the Trop, St. Pete, and sports in the Tampa Bay Area.

This was muggled 1/2009 and was just replaced, so before you go tearing apart ground zero, read the hint, trust the hint, follow the hint and re-hide it so the next person can do the same. Thanks!
