Geocache Description:

An easy cache on a walk out from Slinfold village, placed to coincide with a Sussex Cachers meet in October 2008.

Clapgate Lane appears to be an old route (maybe even an old drove road) linking Slinfold to the A29 (Stane Street). The part which starts in Slinfold is now a nice tarmac bridleway making this an easy to reach cache. I've labelled it wheelchair accessible but would welcome guidance on whether the hide itself would make this inappropriate. Continuing on the bridleway, or any of the various footpaths in this area, brings you quickly to open countryside and some very pleasant green spaces to explore. The second footpath on the left (going away from Slinfold) is the remaining part of the lane and runs through to the A29.

There are also several other caches hidden in the vicinity which can be chained together (with a good OS map and some creativity) into an extended walk around this pretty village.

The cache itself is a simple traditional which you should find straight forward. The container is a small loc-loc box in a camo bag, suitable for small swaps, TBs and geocoins. Parking is available beside St Peter's Church or on the main street through the village. It also makes for a nice walk from the Red Lyon in case you happen to be there for any reason. Enjoy!!
