A letter and postcard swapping spot!
This is a Geo-Post Office! What is a Geo-Post Office you might
ask. Well, A geo-post office is a cache set up to exchange post
cards or letters between cachers!
How does this work?
Caches are placed to hold postcards. Every postcard will have a
small message and an address on it. The address will contain the
person’s name that you're trying to send the card to, a city and
most likely a cache. The objective is to move postcards between
Geo-Post Offices until they reach their desired location. When you
move a postcard or message from one place to another, please let
the person who it’s being sent to know where you moved it to
because they might be close enough to pick it up. If you move a
postcard from one Geo-Post Office to another please move it closer
to the city or cache!
Who should I send these postcards or messages to?
Anybody that you want!
What’s the purpose?
It’s another fun thing that we can do with geocaching! It’s also
nice to keep in touch with others!
What do I need to put on a postcard?
Put the name of the cacher, a city and you’ll most likely want
to put a cache that they can pick it up from. A little message is
usually appreciated too.
How far can I send one?
As far as you want as long as there are Geo-Post Offices along
the way there!
How Do I send one?
Go to any Geo-Post Office and place your message or postcard in
there. Please if you're putting one in try to move a different one
along.
How Do I start my own Geo-Post Office?
All you need is a cache container, a log book, a stash note,
some zip-lock bags and of course postcards or letters to go in it!
Put the post cards or messages in the zip-lock and place the log
book in another. Make sure to put in the name of the cache
“Geo-Post Office” so that others will know. You may even want to
include this note on the cache page to introduce new people.
The cache container is a rectangular Lock & Lock covered in
cammouflaged duct tape. It contains some blank postcards, ziplocks,
a logbook & pencil. We also left a postcard in there for
someone to move along.
This cache is for postcards and messages only. Feel free to
place trackable in the cache but there is no loot inside the
cache...... only postcards.
