Geocache Description:

This is a Cache In Trash Out Event. Start time is at 0930 and will go for 90-120 minutes (back home in time for college football).

Please join us for a CITO in a nice county park in western Fairfax. Rocky Run Stream Valley Park is a nice watershead located on the western edge of the Civil War Battle of West Ox. Rocky Run runs into Cub Run, which flows into Bull Run, that drains into the Occequon River that ends in the Potomac that of course dumps into the Chesapeake Bay.

The idea is to get some of the trash out that would otherwise flow into the water and eventually into the Bay.

Please bring waterproof shoes (waders if you have them) as it can get a bit muddy.

After the clean up. Pam will hold a short demonstration of Stream Monitoring to show you the importance of the work you have just done by showing you the little critters in the stream (unfortunately, Rocky Run is not a very healthy waterway). Always a hit with the kids, it is also informative for all...especially fly fisherman.

Beavers have been recently seen in the stream and evidence of their teeth work is near the trails we will be on. Deer and Fox have also been seen in this part of the park.

I will supply some refreshments as we meet and then after. I will also try to have a few TBs/GCs available for swap/discovery as well as a few for out-'door prizes'.

Three other caches are close by. To get to the start site you will have to go by

Don't Let The Greenbriar Get You (GC18009)

CITO Events are a great way to meet other cachers (and hopefully we will have other members of the neighborhood out as well) and give a little back to the commmunity.
